"I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits."
Martin Luther King, Jr. in his Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech, found in A Testament of Hope
My reflection: My friend Christian Kakez-A-Kapend regularly challenges those who pray for those who don't have enough to eat but don't do anything about it. Awareness and belief are the first steps, but we need more. We need not just audacity to believe as MLK challenged, not just the audacity to hope as Barack Obama encourages, but to DO. So now that we believe, what can we do to go beyond concerned belief? Do we have the audacity to share food with those who don't have enough to eat each day? Do we have the capacity to educate others who struggle to learn with inadequate resources? What can we do to build up someone's sense of dignity, equality and freedom? What will I do? What will you do?
